The Artist

I have carved, sculpted and modeled fantasy characters, dolls and faces since early childhood. I am intrigued with ancient cultures and adventure stories. My real passion for mask-making, introduced me to an art form many centuries old.

By putting on a mask, the wearer can become someone or something completely different. In studying leather sculptures from Spain, the Orient and Venetian masks from Italy, I discovered a material that is both challenging and rewarding.

My interpretation of the ancient arts is a path that brings nature and ancient cultures together. The feathers I use are obtained from farm raised birds, mainly exotic chickens, various pheasants, turkey and guinea. Each mask is composed on a hand-formed leather backing, making them quite comfortable to wear. The designs come to me as I work, the materials, colors and shapes combine with to give back the energy and beauty of nature.
